Health & Safety Training Course Prospectus



 


Level 2 Health & Safety (Formerly Foundation)

This is a one day course (including examination) leading to successful candidates receiving the certificate in Level 2 Health & Safety accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.

This basic level of health and safety training equips employees with the knowledge to assist their employers in operating the business in a safe manner. All employees, team leaders and supervisors should be trained to at least Basic level health and safety.

Level 3: Supervising Health & Safety

This is a three day course (+ one day revision and examination) leading to successful candidates receiving the certificate in Supervising Health & Safety accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.

A newly designed course specifically aimed at team leaders, supervisors and foremen etc who need greater than the basic level of understanding.

This course will equip these people with the information necessary to identify defects in operating practice and assist in the amendment of these failings.

Level 4: Advanced Health & Safety

Key personnel in organisations need the skills and knowledge to manage health and safety: simply being aware of and understanding the issues is not enough. This qualification is designed for those working in any business, regardless of their product or service range. It is essential for all those who have a role that includes responsibility for the management of health and safety issues, including managers, supervisors and senior safety personnel.

This is a five day course (+ one day revision and examination) and is designed for those in managerial or supervisory positions who require a good knowledge and understanding of health and safety issues.

Successful completion of this course will arm delegates with the information and understanding they need to assist their employer in meeting their obligations under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. Successful candidates are also able to tutor the Basic level course provided certain other criteria are met.

Principles of Manual Handling

This course lasts 2 - 3 hours (Half Day). Successful completion of this programme will prepare delegates to consider their own work activities carefully and contribute to the development of safer methods of manual handling and related tasks, in cooperation with their managers and supervisors. This qualification does NOT provide delegates with the detailed training to carry out manual handling assessments or to provide training on techniques.

There is a Multiple choice test of 20 questions at the end of the course.

Level 2 Risk Assessment - Principles & Practice

This course is designed for Supervisors or managers responsible for conducting risk assessments, and lasts around 7 hours (1 day). Delegates must then complete an assignment and self evaluation.
Successful completion of this programme will allow delegates to:

  • Contribute to their workplace risk assessment programmes
  • Conduct risk assessments (provided they have technical knowledge in the subject)
  • Organise & implement a risk assessment programme
  • Assist in identification of training needs
  • Assist employers in meeting their legal requirements with regard to risk assessment.

Delegates succeeding at this qualification are encouraged to progress onto the CIEH Level 4 Advanced certificate in Health & Safety in the Workplace (click here to request further information)
